Tattoo Care
Pretty important stuff, please take some time to read the following.
Tattoo Preparation
There are a few things that you can do to make getting tattooed a lot easier on yourself.
Eat food
It is of the utmost importance that you eat prior to getting your tattoo, as it is a lot harder for your body to cope with skin penetration on an empty stomach. It is also advisable to raise your blood sugar levels by ingesting some soft drink or sugared lollies.
Get plenty of sleep
Ensure that you have had a good nights sleep.
No alcohol or stimulants
Do not consume any alcohol, or other stimulants for 24 hours prior to receiving your tattoo.
Inform us of any medications
Ensure that you inform your tattooist if you are on any medication, as some medications can adversely affect the outcome of your tattoo.
Stay out of the sun
It is also imperative that your skin is in optimum condition to receive your tattoo – THAT MEANS NO SUNBURNT OR PEELING SKIN – Skin in this condition cannot be tattooed under any circumstance.
Don’t come in sick
If you are unwell for any reason, postpone your tattoo in advance, you need to be healthy to heal a tattoo properly.
Relax
Other than that, do your best to relax, and don’t hesitate to ask as many questions as you wish. It is our intention to make your tattoo experience as pleasant as possible.
Tattoo Aftercare
Within 2 hours, remove the cling-wrap & give the area a gentle soapy wash.
Allow the tattoo to dry for approximately 10 minutes.
In the Wet Season:
Apply a thin layer of savlon, and re-wrap in cling wrap if you are primarily in air-conditioning.
Do not re-wrap unless you are in air-conditioning.
Repeat for 3 days.
After 3 days, cease re-wrapping & you may continue to use savlon, or switch to organic coconut oil for the remainder of a two week period.
In the Dry Season:
Apply organic coconut oil, and re-wrap the tattoo.
Continue to gently wash and re-wrap twice daily for 3 to 4 days (wet heal).
After the 3rd or 4th day dispense with the glad wrap and continue to apply organic coconut oil for the remainder of the two week period.
